Expiring Endorsements

I have 2 endorsements expiring in October after four long years.
Car insurance companies always ask for five years history. If I was to get car insurance with a new company in November would I need to tell them about my expired endorsements?
Surely if they have expired the insurance company will never know???

Hope it makes sense!!!

Well when you renew or get new car insurance the insurance company normally asks of any accidents or endorsements in the last 5 years - so really you should tell them - chances are that they will hardly make a difference if you say you have them so you may aswell just tell them you have them!Weight Loss - 102lb0

You are aware that if you should happen to argue with your partner/parents and move out to your parents/friends and send your licence away to change your address (free of charge) then your expired points will just fall of your licence. You could then change it back after reconciling your differences.:rolleyes:I have a cunning plan!

Points only count for 3 years (to the Police anyway) but they will show on a licence for 4 years. If you have a photo licence with paper counterpart and want to get them removed then you will probably have to pay but if you move then it is free of charge and they will fall off the licence.
You will have to declare the points to a new insurance company until they five years are up (unless for some reason they only ask for 4). If you don't declare it and they find out otherwise then they are within their rights to revoke the insurance (and I'm sure theres an offence in there somewhere aswell but can't think what it is right now..). Personally I would make it easy on myself and just tell them...."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I seem to remember that some insurance companies only ask about the last three year, (or was that accidents rather than endorsments?) Anyway if you get ridiculous quotes because of the endorsments it could be worth looking into.0

Thanks for the replies guys.
Looks like I'm going to have to come clean and tell the new insurance company about my endorsements.
Maybe the insurance companies can check directly with DVLA without having to see your counterpart.0 -
Probably best to tell them - it can invalidate the insurance if you dont and they find out. Have you tried doign online quotes for with and without the points - see what the difference is? I once did this and there was only a difference of about £15Weight Loss - 102lb0

hjb123 has head the nail on the head - it could, and probably would, invalidate your insurance! They would rightly argue that you failed to disclose relevant information at the time of your quote.
Is it really worth the risk?0 -
try posting on the insurance board , to see if any car insurance people are on there.
Is there not a way/register of the insurance company checking how many points you have ?
As a few others have said it would probably invalidate you policy if you hadn't declared the points beforehand"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

All of this means that basically endorsements lasts for 5 years. Just another way of screwing more cash out of us by increased insurance premiums.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

My bike insurance is due in early October just a month after 3 of my points get to the 5 year mark. I look forward to a very tiny drop in my premium for next year. And tomorrow my 3 other points are 3 years old. Happy birthday.
Luckily my insurance company - http://www.ebikeinsurance.co.uk - doesn't count accidents after 3 years. Their car policy is the same.
