We are going for November 1st as well - with a plan to go day to day after that, aiming for the 15th (middle day of Nov!). The idea is that last year we got to November 1st, so we should be able to at least do that again, want to get to 15th but happy with 1st!
Heating off - aiming for last day of Feb (last year it was mid-March)0 -

Doubt very much I could do this, you all must come from the more moderate climate down south. I think during the winter I will be going to bed as soon as I get home, when on backshift. I suppose I,m lucky, in a way, that I only have myself to please.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

I'm in Scotland too Little Star, I think I managed till September (end of) last year. Although this year the heating has been on twice to dry clothes (only an hour) since our weather hasn't been so good the past week.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Trying to get my washing dried is going to be my biggest worry. I avoid the tumble drier 99.9% of the time and have clothes driers around the house, but when the weather gets bad the stuff just doest dry - even with me flinging all the windows open and positioning them in front for a through breeze - and i tend to wash my work clothes every night when I get home...:s The most we are aiming for is an hour in the morning when we get up I think, and the rest of the time we will be out at work, or home for work and bundled up...hopefully. The place was freezing last year and that was with the heating on for a blast in the evening. Ive done draught exclusions and so on for this year so fingers crossed its a bit better

I try to use my airing cupboard as much as possible to dry things over the winter. I've found the banister on the stairs is good for hanging duvet covers etc to dry overnight. I invested in some cheap church candles last year and its amazing the amount of heat they put out. I had the clothes horse in the living room with me and the candles going whilst watching tv. So no lights and heating was on only when it was really needed in the morning. The candles gave me enough heat and I suppose I'm lucky my living room heats up pretty quick (laminate with carpet underlay underneath the thickest one) so the stuff was dry in no time. Also when I wash bigger things (jackets etc) I roll them up in an old dry towel and squeeze all the water out. I think this helps them dry quicker and I leave the towel to dry as normal. I usually get the church candles in charity shops although sometimes the pounds shops have them too.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. I'm going to try Nov.1st too.I think I'll be snuggling down under a couple of fleeces when watching tv.It's just ridiculous that in this day and age we're having to consider the things we are.I thought that the winter was so long last year and with this rotten spring and summer we've had little respite have we.I'm just so sick of the dampness,I just wish this rain would leave off for a few weeks.0

Second the airing cupboard for drying clothes. We took the shelves out of our airing cupboard and fixed a rail high up instead. I hang washing onto the rail with coathangers and a whole load dries quite quickly (pretty much overnight) with the door almost closed.0
