Better to take trav cheques or use ATM's?

Hi, we are off to Menorca on Saturday. In the past we have used the ATM's there rather than take travellers cheques as we were advised a few years ago that was the best way. I am wondering if it is still best to do this or would we get a better exchange rate buying travellers cheques before we go?
Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

If you have a Nationwide debit card or a Santander zero credit card that you can payoff immediately then the ATM would be the best option.0

No I dont. I have an HSBC Visa debit card. So that would be preferable than travellers cheques?
Thanks Caz.0 -
Much of a muchness unless you get Sterling TCs for free. Don't even think of purchasing Euro cheques.0

Martin posted a update recently that some Spanish banks atm`s are charging a "new"
fee even if you do use Nationwide debit card etc.
Any one have any updates which ones do and which do not ?
Thank you.0
