Wee_Willy_Harris wrote: »Your post mentions "shared ownership and the other packages", loans from developers, yet you don't recognise these as incentives. Why, then, are they so sought after by key-workers? Could it be because it reduces the outlay? If that's not an incentive, what is?
Spoke too soon:rotfl:It reduces the outlay:rotfl::rotfl:I suggest you really really need to do a bit more research on the internet!! these scheme are a ticking time bomb, some people will never completely own their property, not the way house prices are increases, thereby making it very difficult to buy further shares, some will find it very very difficult in ten years time to pay back the deposit borrowed, unless they sell up in some cases or inherit, so interest penalties will apply in some cases, all these scheme do is delay the inevitable increasing costs along the line. I can now understand now why they have been complaints about you on the forum.

My next door neignbour has moved out of his three bedroom semi and is now proposing to rent it out to a family with five children:eek:, seven in total, I would hazard a guess that there a fair few owner occupiers who would love to move to a larger property but are unable to afford it. Apparently they are claiming housing benefit at the moment for a three bedroom house in a cheaper area, so moving next door will mean an increase in their rent. Your alleged new neighbour's rent is none of your business as is the size of their family. Moving from a cheaper area does not mean that they would be claiming additional benefits and I would suggest that your opposition is based on something other than your concern for the taxpayer.
Question will the council permit this? with that amount of children surely it would be better to be renting a four bed to justify the extra cost to the tax payer? If the council won't permit it then they are going to have to take responsibility for rehousing a lot of owner occupiers who aren't living in home big enough for a child to have its own bedroom as well.
I do not mind admitting that I am put off by the thought of seven people in a three bed-semi:eek::eek: and the rest of my neighbours are hopping mad:D:D

I think you and your neighbours should mind your own business for a start and maybe try to get your knickers in a twist about a real situation rather than a purely hypothetical one.
Do you get out much?

Complaints? Really?
I must say, I'm touched at your admission above that the advice and guidance you gave your daughter was so poor. Of course, that does colour how we might judge any opinion you may voice now.0 -

Are you now suggesting that this will protect her from any of the (possible) negative future impacts of the incentives she has so far enjoyed?0 -

Only time will tell, bottom line we come into the world with nothing, we will all leave that way, but a least whilst we are here. we did not rely on others to pay our way!!!

Apart from daughter and nephew, huh? Just as long as it's not the neighbours.0 -
OP if you are half as unpleasant in real life as you give every appearance of being on this thread I sincerely hope for your sake and your hypothetical new neighbours that they decide not to move in after all.0
