So, it was either an outright purchase of a HA property, ie social housing, and now you're surprised to have tenants next door.... OR it was a subsidised purchase (key worker/part rent, part buy etc) in which case you are getting your slice of the cake but want to deny others their slice? You can't have your slice of cake AND eat it!
The flat you might be refering belongs my daughter, another hardworker not reliant on the state to house her!! Any more questions!! An apology would be nice for your mistaken assumptions!!

Bingo. Over inflated housing costs = no affordable housing for those even on average wage = increased LHA claims.
Throw in the crunch and increased unemployment, the situation worsens.
Blame the market's artificial inflation of house prices and greedy landlords setting high rents (plus those who have to set their rents high to cover BTL mortgages on overpriced houses).0

Well, your OP was slightly misleading then..... Valuation came in a lot under asking price... Valuation came in a lot under asking price...
I'm happy with this but the other side are obviously not!
We are buying from an HA they have referred the matter to their surveyor to see whether they can come up with Sold comparables in the area.
Questions: how far back do you think they can go to compare prices then and now? And with prices still falling isn't it a pointless exercise. We have sent through comparable prices for similar properties to ours (which are at todays asking price) but they won't accept these!!
So now its a case of their surveyor against ours and whatever data is now available.
One last question, do achieved prices at Auctions count.

And, as you invite questions, how did your !!!!less nephew get on?.... Renting - guarantor needed! Renting - guarantor needed!
I came across this problem this week. I was looking for a rental property for my Nephew and his son. Unfortunately, the DSS will be paying the rent. In ringing around, I was told by one well known Estate Agent in my area, that the landlords on their books will only tak on a DSS renters, if a home-owner in the UK will sign as a guarantor on that's person's behalf:eek:. Well I for one will not be putting my house on the line, family or not, should the DSS mess-up. Sounds like some BTLers now want their cake and want to eat it.
Has anyone else come across this stipulation?

Oh, and this is the cake slice stealing clincher......
In the meantime, I am going to advise my nephew to go into emergency housing, hopefully with a child he could be fast tracked into permanent housing.

I am her parent, that what parents do, give their children a helping hand, whether its advice or money, she was quite happy and apprecative that I was involved in the process with her, as she was a first buyer and your point is???? Before you start to making accusations, please get your facts right.

How does woking hard to my own home make me morally bankrupt? So I should sit on my hands and let others pay their way for me, let others pay my rent, council and feed my children and sit back and watch the world go by without making some sort of contribution to society. That's what I call being morally bankrupt:mad:
