I spent some time on e-bay looking for a genuine copy of Lost season 1.
I thought I'd found one but now that it's arrived I'm 99% sure it's a bootleg
I should have known better but the seller had 100% feedback, it came as a proper boxed set and was sealed.
I've seen the dvds before and was impressed with the qaulity of them. This copy is pixelated and claims to have DTS sound - but doesn't.
I've e-mailed the seller to complain that they are bootleg and asking for a refund but predictably have had no response - they are in Malaysia (I know, I know should have known better)
I paid by Paypal is there any way I can get my money back ?
thanks.

If you paid by paypal you can. Start a claim not as advertised0

I think if you go down the goods not as described route PayPal will probably insist.0

Why...do you think because they are ( allegedly ) illegal that you should be allowed to keep them as well as get a refund??
.and remember they may NOT be illegal under Malaysian law......
To be honest...did you seriously expect to get a 100% legitimate copy from Asia???????????
mikeif i had known then what i know now0 -
I suppose you could report them to ebay as selling pirated goods but I dont know if that would help really as the seller would just reregister under a different name. Also you would probably have no proof they knew the video was pirated as they may buy from a 3rd party. You could leave a neg stating pirated video ,I suppose.0

Fugie I'm guessing it didn't cost that much, i would write it off as a bad experience and learn from that little mistake.
If no-one made mistakes, no-one would ever learn. You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0 -
Rule #1. Don't buy any DVD's off eBay. The chances of them being legit are slim to none.0

99% of the time if you read the description it will give it away if the DVD's are bootleg as all the DVD's I have purchased have been legit region 1 and 2 DVD's
1) Items coming from Asia are normallly Asian copied imports as there are hardly any copyright laws over there
2) Advertised as multiregion normally indicates that the DVD's are DVD-R or DVD+R copies
3) Anything that is currently on the cinema then you know it is a fake
4) If the seller says ask any questions beforepurchasing as this is a big give away
etc.....
If you are careful on ebay and read the auction details then you should not end up with copies unless you intend to be purchasing them0 -

This isnt necessarilty true. I bought a copy of "an unfinished life" from cdwow before it was even on at the cinema in the UK. Was completely puzzled.
