Can you fly cheaply to Durham from Canada? If so, get a cheap one-way to Canada (probably Toronto) with Zoom or Air Transat.
Unfortunately not, I think my visa requirements under the present circumstances will not allow to fly through any other country. Americans can be funny about such things. Thanks anyway.

You may find the cheapest way to do this is to buy return tickets and just not use the return portion of the ticket.

This way you can fix the date of return which gives the cheapest fare.
Yes, Looks like thats the only way I may have to do it in the end. I still have a couple of weeks or so to finalise this. I was hoping the present paranoid state of travel to US may force the airlines to lower their fares. There has to be a silverlining somewhere. Cheers anyway.

Damn, I was going to do this to get to NYC one-way to start an internship under the J1 visa - do you know if this rule would apply to me too?

If you happen to be under 26, STA Travel have some incredible deals for travel with Virgin (inc one-way) in Sept and October but obviously you'd have to make your own way to Durham from Washington (or any of their other destinations).

gf and i are moving to Vancouver to live in october, but going to Los Angeles and Las Vegas for a holiday first before getting an internal flight up to Vancouver from there.

The tickets to the USA we got are with AerLingus and also one-way.

By the sounds of it AerLingus sound like your best best chief. Hope my post helped in some way. :)

Yes, it is Raleigh Durham. Sorry, I should have said that in my post. I didnt know it was called Raleigh Durham till I went there few months ago. Two cities Raleigh and Durham together and the airport is in the middle.

I think it would. We are going on H1-B visa. In that you got to specify which port you intend to come through. Also, when they issue the VISA, they ask for flight details if you already have made the arrangements. Thats why, I am looking for a single booking so that I dont have to change flights and collect the luggage and re-book again onto a different flight. But if you are going to NYC, there are many direct flights you can choose from. Goodluck with your internship. Cheers
