Lol :rotfl:Thanks for the comments, i think i will take them back to Wilkos and see what they say!0

I have to admit, I wouldn't believe that anything but a edible mushroom could grow in one of these kits, but certainly on the top photo, they look decidedly dodgy.
I would take it back too. In fact I might send a photo to the makers, if they're not Wilkos.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Oh dear! What is emmensly funny about it is, you could be on to the next greatest delicacy! All the posh resturants for miles around might want these!
On the other hand - something is clearly not quite right, perhaps it would be better to take them back and get a refund!0 -
Well took the mutants back and got a refund:) caused quite a stir in Wilkos as nobody had seen anything like them lol, the por girl who had to fill out the customer refund form was lost for words when she had to describe the problem. Really pleased thoough because got a mini greenhouse for £10.00 with my refund, and then nipped into Morrisons and managed to get hold of a pack of the legendary buckets, so chuffed:T0

They really don't look very tasty!
My daughter has been trying to use one of those grow kits. She only had one mushroom come up which looked nice enough, but when the head of it got to about the size of a 10p coin it decided enough was enough and started shrivelling up! Complete disaster!0 -

Oh dear:( i must admit my experience has put me off trying again, as the kits are not cheap and i was doing it to try and save money! It would be nice to hear from someone who has been successful....0 -
How random!
It could be a puffball :
I know yours didn't have spines but this is the only decent cross-section picture I could find!
There's a few different species of these, some edible, some not so much so I think you definitely did right to take them back. Yours definitely don't look like 'normal' mushrooms, which do start off as a ball but when cut across you can see the gills etc and the mushroom shape starting to form inside.
I wonder how whatever they are got there????0 -
lol I just want to say thanks for a chuckle! I nearly cried when i saw photos of "the mutants"! they look like lumps of mould! teehee glad you got a refund!0
