does virgin still try and retain you?

I remember when they were NTL they would give a few months free or reduce the price to say around £8 for broadband for the rest of the year if you threatened to leave. They never even bothered mentioning the cost of the phone line which they had provided which was kind of like free with the package. Now, since virgin took over, I found they were adamant to charge £11 for the phone line on top of the broadband cost (notice how they advertise cheap broadband prices but then in tiny letters will mention the phone line cost as additional, effectively doubling the price) and hardly budged the way NTL used to, which made me leave them ages ago.
Have virgin changed? and do they offer those old deals again now to stop you going? because there is no way I want to go through hell again being stuck on the phone passed from pillar to post only to find I have been double charged, Virgin carried on doing this kind of rubbish the same way NTL customer services used to do last time I checked when I was unfortunate enough to be stuck with them so I am cautious now about rejoining.
Don't get me wrong they weren't all that bad if you never changed anything but say if you moved house or asked to change something on your account, heaven help ya!

I'd be interested to know this as well. My monthly bill has gone up nearly 50% since I last struck a deal with them some 3/4 years ago. Why pay it if you don't have to :A0

It seems that if you don't ask you don't get.
Although it says it nowhere on the website so far as I can see the prices quoted are for new customers. As an example I took phone and 20Mbps (£11.99 + £20) but it seems that the "in-their-dreams" price for 20Mbps is £37. If they try charging me that when my 12 months are up then they'll certainly get a "I'm thinking of leaving" call from me - espcially as I also got 2 months BB free and £125 cashback through a MSE special link to SimplifyDigital.
Their target price for me would be the TalkTalk phone+broadband bundle of ~ £26.50 - especially as that includes free calls too. Whether I'd actually risk moving to TalkTalk is not so certain as using their pricings as a haggling point.0
