We did google flea bites but even the doc confirmed that they were bed bug bites.

It's just the quickly written email we received that puzzled us.. Surely any hotel would be mortified to be told of the problems we had and would have bent over backwards to apologize and assured us more that the problem would be sorted correctly.

I suppose I expected maybe a slight refund for our problems or at least an offer of a free stay to apologize for our 'medical condition' as they put it. Before anyone leaps in this is not why I emailed them in the first place.

Sounds lie someone not from the UK who responded to your email.

Maybe they dont realise it is a major public health concern?

Have you spoken to EH. What did they say?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Yuk. The same thing happened to me at a hotel in Canada. I woke up one morning with several insect bites on my arms and legs that were definitely not there the previous day. Wasn't best pleased and its slightly put me off staying in hotels.

I've heard horror stories on TV of people visiting infested hotel rooms and leaving their suitcases open and clothes out. The bed bugs jump on them, the clothes are packed up taken home and unpacked. Well you can guess what happens next...

oh gosh - this happened to me and my daughter too.....luckily i noticed the bed buts before i spent the full night in the bed....i was just about to settle down to sleep when i saw summat from the corner of my eye - looked up to see loads of the bugs crawling on the bed....jumped out of bed and got my camera to film them and also grabbed some of the bigger ones into a plastic bag.....it was in manchester and the early hours so no way was we gonna complain and end up out on the streets so we spent the night huddled on the sofa - the next morning we shook and shook anything of ours (luckily only had the clothes we had on and a small bag each) and went down to complain...with the evidence i got my money back and a bit of compo and also a free stay in the hotel - no chance........

i was paranoid so once i got home i boiled our clothes and we both had a hot bath but was still paranoid wed brought something home with us....

i then reported the hotel to the environmental health who got back to me to tell the hotel had been inspected and told to shut down while it treated the infestation
