Converting cruise shipboard spending from dollars to pounds

Going on a Princess cruise to Norway. Onboard spending charged in us dollars, but I will be using a UK debit card. The cruise line can convert the charges using wholesale exchange rates plus 3% conversion fee or I can let Nationwide do it . I have to decide before my cruise - which is best?
