I NEED Counselling!

Options
I recently owed £1400 on a Vanquis credit card; problem is this is not the first time I have mounted up debts. My partner has kindly paid off my debt for me and I am now seeking counselling to teach me to think about money in a different light. Does anyone know where I can find the help I need. The Consumer Credit Counselling service pointed me in this direction.

Can't help with counsellors, sorry, but as my Grandad used to say.... "if you haven't got the cash in your pocket to buy it then you can't afford it".

Best way in my experience to learn how to budget is to revert to cash i.e. surprising how you think twice about spending the money in your pocket as opposed to charging it to a card, which is just waaaaaay too easy.

    Good luck.

Best advice I can give is to get a sharp pair of scissors and cut the cards up, apart from debit cards.

What you haven't got, you can't spend. There endeth the counselling lesson for the day. Good luck

No need for councelling, just grow up and stop expecting others to sort out your problems.

an old woman in my former workplace as a student gave me sound advice, she told me,

'you will think harder about spending cash in your hand as opposed to handing over plastic'

To put this theory into practice I tried it when I went to buy a PS3 in HMV, the console deal was 335 so i lifted this amount of money out of my account and went in to buy it. After ten minutes humming and haaaaing I just couldnt do it. 335 in your mit is a thick load of cash notes. if you ever need to buy something of value over 100 quid then try this and you will see what I mean.

DO NOT LIFT FROM A CREDIT CARD THOUGH!! I must add, oh and dont advertise teh fact you have this cash on you and get straight back to the bank immediately afterwards to deposit it back where it came from.

That is SO true. When you see the cash in your hands, it really does make all the difference.
