I have just recieved a letter from amex to say that from october 1st -you recieve 0.5% cashback on spend up to £3500(from £2000),anything above this is to earn 1%.This is for the blue card. They say that they will honour any eligible spend at old rates before this date.
On the plus side, they are removing the anual service charge on your account for spending under £500.
Hope this is of interest to someone.............Neil

I just got this too. So disappointed as I only just got into the 1% band this year. I'll have to go and look into different cards to see whether I might be better off using something else now :-(0

Egg money pay 1% up to £200 cashback per year.
Other cards will pay more/less see Martin's article on credit cards.0 -
I don't have an annual fee against my card so that doesn't cover it!! I liked my Amex card as it reduces where I can spend my money so only essentials go on the card. When did you receive the letter, as I haven't received mine yet.....
THanks for the notice

Ha! Revert to type I'm sure - cut the rate to 0.5%, then 0.25%, then 0.1% and claim that they are offering a fantastic rate for customers...like they did with the Egg Card :rolleyes:0

I can vouch for Morgan Stanley's cashback card. I signed up with MSDW in 1998 and use my card exclusively for retail purchases.
You can manage your account online. MSDW also accepts payments by phone so if, perish the thought, you're poorly and your PC crashes, you can still settle the bill in the comfort of your own home, using the automated telephone system. There's a Freefone number for this and for those occasions when you need to speak to a human being. Cashback's not as good as the current Egg rate, but well worth considering if telephone back-up is important to you.
The cashback card pays 1% on all spending up to the first £2,000 a year and 0.5% after that. You'll be surprised how it all mounts up. (Makes you wonder what the card companies are making!)
Btw, the introductory double cashback means that this card outperforms Amex Platinum for those spending less than £3,500 in the first year.
Perhaps, someone will be along soon to tell us about their experiences with the Conran card.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
