Free 32" TV deal at Carphone Warehouse

Hi all

I am still a relative newcomer to the world of mobile phones and have only ever had prepay phones.

I am now seriously considering a contract and happened to see that Carphone Warehouse are offering a free 32" inch Samsung TV and handset when taking a 24 month contract at £25 per month. I would be grateful if anybody could offer any opinions as to whether this represents good value(presuming you have a need for the TV) or if the TV and a comparable mobile deal can be bought individually at an overall cheaper price.

Thanks in advance for any advice offered

Seen the deal on there site.

That same tariff on the samnung phone is £15 a month, so effectively your paying £10 extra for the TV every month. Its not too bad as it works out £240 over the 24 months.
  • Even when you are offered a free phone, you effectively pay that off over the 18-24 months. The same can be said for other free gifts that are offered.

For example if you were to choose the Sony Ericsson W205 with free TV on £25 a month (300 mins Unlimited Texts) for 24 months. You'd have everything for £600.

If you were to get everything separate the phone is £25, TV is £300, and you can get a sim only contract on O2 with the same allowances for £10 a month. Meaning that overall you would be paying £565 if bought individually.

These offers are really not good value for money and if you searched around you could probably find the individually priced goods even cheaper. Best of luck and steer clear of these sneaky offers. :)
