  • Hi,

heh heh, I like a story with a happy ending, except for the chicken.

Had a look at the link, I see the cooker has an 'amazing button mechanism'. :rotfl:

PS...........I have ordered a new WMF cooker from Amazon, twice the price but they provide a 'non hostage chicken proliferation treaty' in their terms and conditions.

It always amazes me as well when for the sake of a few pounds, they are prepared to lose a customer.3 lost me as a customer over £15.00 when I was spending anything between £30.00 to £75.00 per month with them.

I was spending in the region of £300 per month with Aldi............£3,600 per year for the sake of a £3 chicken, just as well I don't mind a bit of foul play............Boom Boom!

Just to round things off nicely.

I had called the helpline that's even engraved on the cooker and, as usual, was met with a call centre, no, that's inaccurate, an answering service because they told me they would have someone call me back.......but they didn't. So I emailed the manufacturers in Germany with a bit of a rant from 'Mr. Disgusted'.

The reply from them asked me if I had "perhaps put the lid on askew" and if after examining it I decided it was on properly, I am to throw the whole lot away and they'll send me another cooker!

    I think I'll forgo the chicken :)

Me too. My Nan had one that left the work surface, flew through her bungalow roof and onto the pathway. Typically on Christmas Day. I am sure as this was years ago, that they are better made now, but I would be on edge constantly if I had one!

Er, that's not really helpful though! I bet it just opens when it has completely cooled :)

wheres the rolling eyes smiley when you need it??? That must have been one heck of a pressure cooker

I've never had one, so do not understand them. This was nearly 50 years ago. Apparently the rubber had perished, so the food completely coated the kitchen and the lid / handle broke through the roof. I guess they were not made the same or she was negligent, either way, I'd be petrified to own one.

Good point. I read an article one time about a guy who ran a supermarket chain in the USA. He told all his staff that whenever they talked to a customer thay should imagine a $30,000 price tag above the customer's head as this was what they would spend on average in the store during their lifetime. Before they upset the customer over the $3 chicken, think of the bigger picture.
