Hi
Yes tried that - thing is the 'master' PC where the router and modem are installed is not recognising the router i.e. I tried pinging it and also tried putting the IP address in internet explorer but still no luck
But saying that the router is working in that I can detect it on my wireless laptop0 -
Is the network port enabled on your PC?
Does plugging into a different socket on your router make any difference (you should have been in socket 1, NOT the wan port)?
did you hard reset the router as per previous instructions/check they were as per the manufacturers?
can you connect to it wirelessly via the laptop and access the config window in your browser?
Its also odd you say your computer has a router AND modem, how exactly have you wired it up and how many devices do you have?0 -
I have on Virgin so my modem I got from them is directly connected to this PC via an ethernet cable. So yes the port on the PC must be enabled as it works fine when its just the virgin cable modem.
I will try a different socket and let you know what happens
yes I did reset the router by pressing the reset button for 10secs using a pen. However I can still see the modem on my laptop with the name I gave it when I first bought it but cant remember the password and key i used !!!
This is the setup I have used:
Ethernet cable from virgin cable modem to WAN port on router
Ethernet cable from network port to port 1 on router.
(hopefully this is correct)...0 -
Some progress - tried port 2 and managed to get to the config page...:)
So went through the wizard happily - but now the central PC cannot connect to the internet. Also my laptop can see the router but i cannot get a net connection even though its on high strength...
Need some lunch0 -
Think its working now - gave the cable modem a turn on and off and everything is ok !!!! At last0
