123-Reg: Very Slow Hosting

Hiya,
Couple of questions:
I have a website hosted with http://www.123-reg.co.uk (part of WebFusion). I would estimate that around 30% of the time (that I try and browse it) my website is running *very* slowly. To the point that most sensible users wouldn't bother and would just click away! I email their support staff when I can but really don't have the time to keep checking up on this dreadful service. It's a very basic website - nothing heavy going on.
At what point would it be fair of me to request a refund from them and move the hosting elsewhere? I am keeping records of all my speed tests etc (though they tell me these are not reliable). I am also testing from both broadband and 3G to make sure it's not my connection.
Also, does anyone have a customer support email address for 123-reg that is outside of their website support system? They have done a very good job at hiding all useful contact information.
Thanks,
D

I am a web developer and made the mistake of bothering to recommend 123-reg, after they served me well as a domain registrar.
Right now the site isn't loading at all, simply timing out. When it does work it easily takes 5-10 seconds to load.
I am going to make a video recording (free software can record your desktop) as well as use YSlow (Firefox plugin) to demonstrate how long it is taking to load pages and see if they can argue that 5-10 seconds per page load is acceptable. Obviously it is NOT, so I am expecting a refund and the ability to transfer our domain.0 -
Hi
Webfusion has asked us to post a response on its behalf. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the forum.
I am sorry to hear that you have had difficulties with your package. If you wish, I can look into this further and work with our shared hosting support team to find the cause of the issue and find a resolution so that your website is performance is improved.
If you would like me to do this please confirm the domain name or support ticket ID and we will be able to get in touch and help you to resolve the issue.

I am a website designer also and have found 123 reg hosting to be unworkable. Exceedingly slow and frequently get server errors. I will be cancelling my contract with immediate effect and never using them for hosting again.0

I have moved mine and friends' websites off 123-reg because of how slowly the sites run. 123-reg have a tendency to put too many sites on each of their servers, causing slow-down if you're on the same server as a high traffic site.
I've been with Vidahost for about 18 months now and have nothing but good things to say about them:
http://www.vidahost.com/
You can phone them on a freephone number from 9am-11pm (all staff are based in the UK so no call centre rubbish), and if you already have a website they'll handle the transfer of it from your old hosting to theirs. They even emailed me near Christmas last year to say that their phone lines would be open on Christmas Day!
I usually email them if I have problems and they respond really fast. Best one I had was 28 seconds! And the longest reply was less than 15 minutes. Far better than 123-reg and their awful 48-hour response policy!
And they have an office dog. What's not to like?

EDIT: Just noticed that a newbie duped me into replying to a zombie thread. Ah well. I'd still recommend Vidahost.0
