Hi All,

After searching the website I still have no answers. Does anybody know how much it costs to call an 0870/0871 number from europe on an orange mobile?

Is it the same rate as a standard landline?
Thanks,

theweirdone

0870 supposed to be national rate but the price didnt drop when the rate did,

Calls from mobiles can be a lot dearer to 0870, And calling it from abroad could be very very expensive.

    Depends on your roaming tariff.

Might be £1 minute for the roaming then another £1 minute for the 0870 call itself.

Unless youve found a flaw in the system to make cheap calls to 0870, 0871 etc?

I think facts would be preferable to guesswork - these calls are not going to cost £1 or £2 a minute, or certainly not unless you are in an expensive place for roaming where all calls are that sort of price.

Main UK networks would charge 0870 and almost certainly also 0871 numbers while roaming at exactly the same rates as other UK bound calls.

There is a proviso though. Not all foreign networks recognise all of these number series as valid, whether for their own customers or visitors roaming, so there may be times when it is impossible to connect. I suspect that this will also vary depending on some technical details about roaming connection methods, such as that from some countries you dial the UK without needing the country code - I assume these are more likely to successfully call 0843 0844 0871 0872 etc

Also, if you get a local SIM in the visited country, rates to these numbers would be higher than other UK landlines, perhaps similar to rates to UK mobiles, if they are reachable at all. And if you want to use callthrough providers from abroad, there are very few which indeed reach UK 0844 and 0871 etc

It might seem perverse that some UK companies run call centres that cannot be reached from all networks abroad, especially if they are in travel and customers might want to amend their ferry or flight booking, but that is the way things are

So it's worth noting a few likely ones on the saynoto0870 website in advance

Much to my cost whilst in Spain 2 years ago both my T-Mobile & Orange Espana phones would not connect to an urgent call to a UK 0844 NG number. Once home I found that NG number will not connect outside the UK, hence the reason that all Bank/credit card emergency contact numbers are a normal landline number but are programmed only to accept call from outside the UK. (You once were able to with hold your number, 141, and it connected but they soon closed that)

I have not read that anything has changed.
