From a customers point of view if your on a budget and find a cheap wedding photographer - great snap it up, aslong as you are happy with what you see or have a recommendation .
But for someone wanting to do the photography and be cheap think about what goes it to it - im talking from experience, i've shot myself in the foot at times with the amount of work i do and money i get paid.0 -
The thing is most people getting married just want great pictures of their day, they dont really understand all the behind the scenes stuff its not there job to know, they look at / sometimes dont look at portfolios and if there happy with the pictures in there and the price they take it.
I never bothered many years ago about style etc, i had a budget and had to find a photographer i was comfortable with that gave me what i wanted for a price i was happy with, i ended up paying £1000 for a full day with a photographer and his assistant, 50 images in an album and 1 large framed print, they were fab pics and i got on with him well, and where are those pictures in the bottom of a cupboard somewhere gathering dust (im now divorced). That was 3 years ago.
Fast forward a few years and im getting married again, im also a lot more interested in photography, but less interested in the pictures of my wedding day cos even when i was married before most of the pictures never got seen by anyone, we rarely pulled out the album, and we looked at the pictures more on facebook.
So now to me, i am happy with a decent photographer who can take a great shot who can take pictures and put them on a disk only, then i can do whatever i please with them, whenever i want with out it costing me 4 x as much for a print or canvass or photobook. Im more than happy to do all that myself. As most brides these days would be if it saves them a few £'s. But yes that is a bit cheap, im currently paying £500 for my photographer.
And No a camera isnt a one off cost, theres all the extra kit and they do need replacing after a while, though use or upgrades.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T

Hello,
I'm looking for a reasonable wedding photographer and would be happy to 'take a chance' on an up and coming snapper who's looking to expand their portfolio.
We're doing our wedding on a bit of a shoe string but as we're lucky to have lots of crafty friends our vintage theme wedding will look fantastic - so could if you have the skill create great porfolio shots.
Our wedding's on 23 October in Gloucestershire, please get in touch if you're interested.0 -
