I think this is a ridiculous policy, I have also been stung by this before with a car hire company, they took out over £700 from my account and then blamed my bank for it taking 5 working days to go back in forcing me to go into my overdraft to live !

These companies make me laugh, normally you just end speaking so some moron who is reading a script saying they are perfectly entitled to financially cripple you for a week because "its company policy" and not down to pure incompetence and lack of basic intelligence.

I wouldn't bother shopping with them ever again, vote with your feet and go else where !
  • I have started shopping at Sainsburys, a few people have told me Asda do the same. The credit card idea is very good, I think I will be doing that in future. I dont know how they are allowed to get away with it but I am glad that a few more people are now aware of this!

This has happened to me with Tesco, was charged twice for the same shopping due to them being unable to deliver on the correct day.

I phoned customer services (next to useless) so contacted the store manager and caused mayhem. I ended up getting both payments refunded, free shopping when it was delivered and vouchers via email for 2 x £10.

They've caused me a few problems, like not delivering all of the freezer goods on one occassion & delivering at the wrong time, about 5 hours off what it should have been! Each time I've been given between £10 & £30 in vouchers or refunded shopping so I still put up with them.

This was a rubbish thing to happen. I remember using the self service check out and the receipt not coming out so they made me put the shopping through again because they said it would not have gone through. Guess what? It had gone through and I was charged twice! I then had to wait until I got a statement from the bank and go back in to the store with it and wait around for 20 minutes or until they had checked that I was not lying!

I hardly ever use Tesco now and if I have to use the self checkout I use cash only.

:rotfl:errrrm well actually I can be. My family & friends always get me to write their complaints or phone companies for them. Always love a battle when companies have done wrong & I thank MSE for that :money:

They should have been able to go into the back office and check the system to see if the transaction finished or not. It was just bone idleness for them not to do it. You may have had to wait a few minutes but surely that is better than charging you twice.

They took my money twice and it had been delivered. It took four days to get the refund and an age for them to refund the bank charges as this sent me into the red. An email to Mr Terry eventually got me the bank charges.

The Tesco staff as unhelpful and unsympathetic as they come.
