My point was occasionally you may get a dodgy neighbour but to tar everyone who lives in FTB properties with the same brush infers a lack of empathy, I had a quick glance at a few of his previous posts and the guy sounds like a serial worrier.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. I was merely using this to illustrate the lengths I would go to in order to show consideration to my neighbours.
Some of people on my street had no aversion to have loud conversations (both with other people or on their mobiles) outside at 2 or 3 in the morning. Understandably I found this irritating, especially when I had to get the train into work at 7 the next day!
As I stated in my previous post I think you worry to much, you sound like person that generates stress and that will not do you any favours.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. 99203 by the sound of it. Why?0 -

Now that you have got down to a tee. I am a stresshead, generally though I keep it contained, which is often pretty bad for me.
For instance, if someone is doing something which upsets me, rather than tell them, I'll worry about it happening again and try and find ways of avoiding the situation, rather than having to deal with a conflict.
However, this doesn't detract from the fact that it was a rather unpleasant situation with my house, and I am glad to be living in a nice area where I am at peace and can walk down the street without feeling as if I'm going to get mugged or started on!
The next step in life will be buying somewhere I can live long term, though this will be several years away and dependant on pricing/affordability of houses at that time.0 -
Next step in my life is to buy somewhere I can buy and live long term, though this will be several years away. Unless the house price situation in this country changes, I do wonder whether I'll get mugged or started on!
Well good luck in that, not all FTB areas are dens of iniquity, well not in my City anyway'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. You will get a chance to buy a place soon, I strongly think that house prices will fall back in line with wages and for someone as yourself who works hard and has saved some money up in the bank things will all come together well.0

I concur, all the factors point to a major correction - only those with a vested interest disagree.

What I was curious about is the spread, that would have been new info (to me anyway).
Anyway, cheers for posting that link.
I do accept, there are a number of people on trackers, however this will be a lowering number as products revert to SVR.
I myself have two SVR mortgages, simply because they are better than when worked out financially against getting a new product at this time.
Certainly myself and I assume many others, will choose fixed products when mortgage rate increase.
This for me is a very valid point.
Consumers are taking advantage of the SVR's for the current years and will likely fix (could be for 5 or 10 years), when rates start to rise.
This means that roughly 1/3 or 1/2 of the mortgage product is gauranteed to be at the lowest in recent history and goes a long way to ensuring security and that the amount paid out over the duration of the loan is kept to a minimum
On the 0% rates you mention, there is a vast difference between the BoE rate and mortgage rates.
Last I looked, you could get a 5 year fix for around 4.79%, not that much different as I recall to the peak of the housing market:wall:
