Hi,
I'm posting this on behalf of a very worried ferret owner. If anyone has seen, or heard anything of a ferret, fitting his description, being found in Pontefract, Yorkshire, over the past few weeks, please let me know.
The ferret is a neutered, microchipped male. Brown body colour, with a white chest and white toes.
The owner found he was missing on the morning of the 21st April. Local vets and the RSPCA were informed imediately. Posters put up in the area, and a pet carrier containing food and bedding was left in the owners garden. There were a couple of reported sightings over the first few days, but even though his owner dashed round to the locations, the ferret wasn't found.
His owner is very upset and desperately wants to find him. Also the owner's other ferret (who has been a lifelong conpanion to the missing ferret) is really missing him too
If you know where he is, have found him, or heard/seen anything at all over the last few weeks, please get in touch - either on the forum, or look out for the posters in the area.
Fingers crossed

Awwwwww heck no .... if you want to say what area in Pontefract he went missing from (not the exact address of course, but the general area) I will let my Dad know. We're in Pontefract and he is a driving instructor so he would keep his eyes peeled.
I am a novice ferret owner but, having had my little golden girl for just 2 months now I would never have believed how fabulously endearing and loving they are and I can only imagine what your friend must be going through.
Please let me know what area ... I'll definitely keep my eyes open but as I say, Dad is all over the area taking driving lessons, so will watch out for him.0 -
Thanks Yorkiepud. I'm not sure what area of Pontifract it is, but I'll ask his owner and get back to you
Glad to hear you're enjoying having your girl. They're fabulous animals, aren't they? I had ferrets' for over 10yrs, but lost my last one to cancer last December. I had 8 of them over that time, and each and every one has left a hole in my heart. I really miss them all so much
Anyway, will pop back as soon as I find out what area it is.
Thanks again :beer:0 -
Hiyah! Ah, I was hoping they'd have found him ... I heard about "something" dark coloured and white being hit and by the side of the road not last night but the night before so I bombed off just incase it was a cat or, heaven forbid, this ferret but there was nothing to be seen so I am tipping it may have been a cat and its owners came to take it home.0

Google for details of RSPCA centres and ferret rescues near you and they will stay on the alert for you! theres a ferret forum here: http://www.ferretsforum.co.uk might be worth posting on their lost and found section.0

Hi, thanks for putting this here for me, Carol. I found it when I was googling lol.
Did you find out the location bramble? Theres been so many found ferrets but ive had no luck.
If anyone does see him, do not hesitate to pick him up, he is very friendly.
If anyone hears of anyone getting a new ferret around the yorkshire area, please get intouch. I think someone may have him and are reluctant to give him back. I want him back thats all, the other ferrets are all down and not acting theirselves.
Thanks.0 -
If any of the neigbours has decking in their gardens ferret might have made a bee-line for that.
The ferrets my partner has adopted over the years have generally been found trying to live under people's garden decking.
Hope you find him soon!0 -
Thanks, He was seen several times, several days after he went missing.
People got in touch and said they'd seen him, but nobody bothered to pick
him up. He was seen in 3 opposite directions too.0 -
And if anyone is in the Pontefract area, like myself, and puts water out on the floor for the birds, keep an eye on the bowl/dish, whatever you put it in. They dehydrate easily so if any are loose, they try to find a water source.
That's how I found mine ... she was drinking from a neighbour's cat litter tray that she fills with water for the birds.
riley01, can you say what areas he was seen in?
As I said before, my Dad's a driving instructor so is all over Ponte and would keep an eye open ... plus, I'm always tootling about. What was the last area he was seen in?
What about phoning the Ponte and Cas Express and asking if they'd just put a few lines in to say can people keep a look out? They're usually good about this sort of thing.
I don't think people just don't bother to pick them up though, I truly believe (like I was at first) that they are scared to handle them what with all the bad press these little critters get - people think they're going to have their fingers taken off!! ... it's certainly been one hell of a learning curve and opened my eyes when I took in Marigold earlier this year!!
Got everything crossed that someone comes across your boy ... !!!!0
