I've just had something similar - Indian accent - calling from "Yorkshire." Yorkshire what? "Yorkshire Bank" Why? "Because your number has been selected to receive a home loan of £20,000." No it hasn't. This is a fraudulent call. Phone down.

Had a sales call the other day "Hello, my name is Martian..."

    Couldn't keep a straight face!

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I've had three of these today.

The first one was a man called Sophie.:rotfl:I couldn't speak for laughing.

The second one got both barrells because I was comfy with one of the kittens watching a film.

The third one said "You have sky tv through a satellite dish". I said "yes, I do" and hung up.
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

I usually ask them to answer one my questions before I answer one of theirs.

    For instance:

Them: "hello sir, we are Sky warranty company, you brought sky with a dish a year ago?"
Me: "I will answer that if you answer the following question 'how much does the average elephant ejaculate in millitres ?"
    Them "Sorry, er Elephant? "
Me: "I cant answer your question now. Do you have an answer".....brrrrrrrr

Do not answer these calls with a response of 'i dont have sky' because thats one more bit of information they have on you and next thing you will find is another company then starts trying to sell you sky. Dont give callers of any sort any information.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

I reckon these 'Sky' calls are two different scams. One is the dodgy warranty companies to whom Sky sold all their subscribers details. They ring up and pretend they are Sky and try to flog an extended warranty - often their details are not up to date.

The other is just random automated callings trying to scam bank details or flog something. The 'Sky' thing is just a way into conversation with you.

Either way don't give them the time of day. Unless you enjoy winding them up for a while, of course, but I can't be bothered.

Am not too sure if it is Sky who are selling the details - I think its possibly the installers who Sky subcontract to - Sky have their own warranty, why on earth would Sky sell customer details to dodgy warranty companies when they have their own warranty company ?? (Unless of course it is disgruntled ex employees ??)

    Just a thought.

A quick google suggests you are correct, Chris. Sky have even taken a couple of these companies to court. I would be interested to know how they get our details though, as I have heard that Sky do sell on their customer list.

I could ask is that an Indian or African Elephant because the Indian is 93ml whereas the African ia 120ml.
