This morning i received a call unknown number. When i answered someone with an indian accent said "hi i'm calling from sky to check if your tv is working."
i said your not calling from sky to which he hung up.
Probably was going to try selling me something.
We don't even have sky so it must be completely random.

A few months ago I had a call from a guy with an Indian accent asking if my Sky box was working properly. He seemed genuinely surprised when I told him I didn't have Sky.

Where do they get their information from??

I asked where they got the information that I had a Sky box, as I seemed to be a service/courtesy call.

I'm perfectly aware that scam/unapproved call centres may use an automatic dialling machine or telephone directories or could have obtained my name/number from an organisation I've dealt with who have sold on the info.

Being on TPS seems to be pointless, still get unwanted calls.

I had someone call me from "Sky" who knew my name and exactly when I purchased my Sky subscription, they were trying to sell me an extended warranty on my sky box. As it happened I was meaning to call Sky about a problem so I asked the person to help me...he admitted he wasn't actually calling from sky and therefore couldn't help.

I always tick not to send my details to 3rd parties, am on TPS and am ex-directory so was not happy...!

I posted about this a few weeks ago we got rid of our Sky box about three years ago but he started off saying he was calling about our sky subscription then said do you have a sky subscription, he obviously wasn't from Sky. I challenged him and he put the phone down,we have TPS too but recently it's a waste of time, he did ask for me by name incidently.

This was a scam? I don't have sky, so I assumed it was just a screwup :s

I thought TPS didn't work if calls were made from a call centre outside the UK?

We don't have Sky, we've never had Sky, we're ex-directory & on TPS ... and they still phoned me.
Was it fair of me to speak to the heavily-accented lady in Welsh?

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

    Ooh, me too.

Weird, as I've never had Sky.
My parents did, but that was two houses ago.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

Had the same call the other day, when I told them I was on "Pay once watch forever" there was a deafening click.
