Hi guys, at the moment we have a mini but are getting a bearded collie in the next few weeks and plan on doing lots of camping and dog showing over the summer including a camping trip to Ireland.
Obviously the MINI is not really practical for this so we are selling it and have narrowed down our choice to one of the above 2 mentioned cars (both 5 door models) we are looking at around a 55 plate model (3-4k) can anyone offer any advice on which would be best :)

Also worth mentioning we will be getting a diesel model

Many thanks

  • To be honest i wouldn't want either of them out of warranty, you could do worse than have a nose on Honestjohn's car reviews for info on respective problems and search owners forums too...though i would do that sort of research on any and every possibility.

Just had a look on that site you mentioned and it sounds like he thinks the c4 is a good all round car??

Can anyone recommend another car large enough for camping equiptment and a large dog in the back? needs to be diesel and around 3-4k mark

    thanks

That 4x4 estate may well be my next car, meanwhile my 55 plte Megane estate diesel has been/is still superb :T
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

i have had a c4 and megane previously.
the megane was a 1.9dci 3 sport hatch on a 53 plate was 10 months old at time with 16k on clock, never had any major problems with it just a few niggles.

05 plate c4 1.6hdi vtr+ had from new and found the car was better built than the megane never had any problems with it at all.

the c4 just felt a better built car the materials used seem of a higher quality and the spec levels were better aswell.

the PSA diesels are stronger than the renault offerings aswell and offered better mpg the 110bhp 1.6 hdi was no slouch either.

thanks for the reply johnny was hoping for someone who had owned both cars. From the reviews I have read the citroen sounds a better car with less problems :) I have had 2 fiestas one a 53 reg and one a 57 reg and had pretty serious problems with both so have been put off fords, the OH wont consider a Skoda....and not really a fan of Astras.

Why not?, far better built cars than both Citroen and Renault.

Damn right - I'd have one in a heartbeat (loved the courtesy Fabia I had)

Probably helps that my local dealer is second to none as well (I bought my current car from them, albeit a Vauxhall)
