10 hours CONTACT time maybe, you can add another 20 hours study time at least on to that, if you're aiming for a first or a good 2:1.

I would think that a good degree is better than a poor degree grade and an OU qualification.. I'd concentrate on the degree.

Is it that you are a bit too eager? I get like that and think I can do everything! lol

I'm well aware of the time required for my degree, I can assure you that I am not kidding myself on. I am looking to study with the OU for at least the first year of my degree then continue with short courses over the summer periods from uni. I've studied with the OU for the last couple of years so am familiar with their requirements. As I've been combining an OU course with my access course I think I can manage to continue the two.

Ok, but I saw your last post about possibly giving up the Highers, I know this was for other reasons, but maybe it would be best to see how degree goes and get one thing done at a time.

I have OU forms here in front of me, and I'm undecided right now too.

at the risk of sounding incredibly sad and pathetic I have nothing else in my life apart from my studying and my dog! I only work a few hours a week, so have more spare time to study than a lot of people. My issue with the highers is to do with the tutor rather than the stress of studying, I study from 6.30 in the morning about 5 days a week, and I like the variety of the subjects I study. For sure I have wobbles at times, but that's to do with the issues of politics at the college, my tutor seems to be on a mission to make me doubt my own abilities! I have 120 credits from the OU towards an English degree and would like to continue to build that up, as a student you get a helluva lot of time off during the summer!

Hmmm.. well, I'd say if you have experience of Open Uni already, then go for it! :)

Altho, you will have to pay the fee's I fear.. :(

I love my college work, it does give me a purpose, means I always have something to do and think about. Also, improved confidence and prospects.

I'm not very social either, and am quite happy staying in and studying. No matter how often my friends say 'but it's Friday!'.. haha - I don't care, not bothered for drinking, just want to learn and get somewhere better..

To be honest if I could spend the next 20 years just studying then i would, and to be honest I am tempted to do so. My ex always told me I was stupid, this is my way of proving to myself that I'm not!

I walk the dog sometimes reading a study book, it's amazing I'm not broken my ankle on a pothole or something!

What are you studying? I know my limits, I've got two OU courses that I would like to do before I hit my degree full on, and I reckon I can do them over the next 18 months. It's just for personal development for me, I can bore on stuff like Anschluss and the Zollwerein (bet I've spelt at least one of those wrong!)

Spell them wrong? I don't even know what they are! lol

I am doing Civil Engineering at college, 1 day a week, altho I am trying to get into Uni this year to do Civil Engineering HND/Degree full time.

I want to do maths with OU, I have to see about Uni and whether I get in. If I get in then I won't do it as I won't have time. If I don't get in, then I will do it along with my Civil Eng. course part time next year.

I want to get my maths up to a good level. I am good at maths, but could be better, and it's more going over it all that I need.

I was looking at MST121 & MS221 in the same year.
