I havent read the book admittedly but apparently there is a much longer time period between the flash forward incident and the future dates.(I think about 7 or 25 years) The book I think is much darker where ppl kill themselves - ie mass suicides etc.. which was missed out of the tv series probably for copycat reasons???So not sure if reading the book will help.

Exactly Vyle.. sometimes it takes awhile to get the plot moving esp if it is cmplicated. I have watched a number of US series - some of which were axed after one or 2 series eg Lipstick Jungle (which was not really a plot loss) and the Dresden Files which was really promising(and in fact has a large bring it back following. To be axed due to ratings is a real pain. MY biggest beef was when they axed My Name Is Earl after 4 series - I had a friend in the US who told me it was one of their top shows at the time of axing.. Same goes for Monk.

When it happens with things like Flashforward .. it makes you feel like you wasted so much time watching it for no reason.. they cant give uis all 10 hours back or whatever.. :(

Oh this is really annoying :( Lost is rubbish now, glad it's finishing, Heroes got rubbish and then really good for the final 2 episodes - Flashforward was looking like it was going to fill the gap left behind. But it seems that's not to be. Grrr.

Where will I get my Dominic Monaghan fix from now?! ;)

I know this isn't Grabbit, but WH Smith have a lot of boxed sets in their Clearance sale - instore only - like Star Trek TNG at £8.50, 4400 was about £7, Primeval series 1 £3. Worth a look if you like boxed sets. I am watching Primeval right now... it's a sort of pants Dr Who/Stargate isn't it? Glad it was only £3.

If you like cop shows like The Wire or the Shield, another very good show - Homicide: Life on the Street series 1 and 2 are £6 each at Play.com. Annoyingly, they were £5 last week.

I don't mind when they axe a show after a good run - I like Monk, but there are 7 series so I don't mind so much - but they seem to axe shows that still have potential and don't even tie up the loose ends. We quite liked the Bionic Woman which they dropped after the writer's strike.

It's all about ratings and advertising, but there are lots of good shows that don't get into their stride until the second series eg King of Queens.
