Pin1 and Pin2 For Sony Ericsson W880i Advice Please?

I recently bought a W880i off Ebay :embarasse The phone is superb, it is also locked to Vodafone which is not a problem. The thing is I was wanting to possibly add some security features, maybe just in case somebody nicked it as I am on a contract sim only plan with Vodafone. So when looking in the phone menu's under Sim protection, PIN (I assume Pin1) is just faded out and no acesss is allowed. PIN2 is highlighted but I do not know the code and it is asking me to enter a PUK2. I phoned up Vodafone and they do not have a clue what it means. They only know the phone's PUK code which I guess is PUK1. This is not valid in the phone for PIN2 and each time I try it runs down the amount of tries available (I am down to 5 so gave up). I am guessing that PIN (PIN1) is greyed out because the phone is probably an ex-contract phone tied to a particular sim card? But PIN2 I haven't a clue. Would unblocking the simlock on the phone debranding it etc remove all this rubbish? Thanks for any help.
