Best for UNLIMITED Data - Is there one?

I currently have a SIM only deal with vodaphone, this is perfect for me as I always buy my own phones unlocked and use them in other countries and on other networks with different Sims.

I move my main number to vodaphone a few months ago as they have excellent coverage in Norfolk (unlike 3 and Orange) and also as they had an 'unlimited' data deal for £5 per month.

It seems that Voda is now chosing to enforce a cap on this 500MB and at the same time I am about to start to use a new phone in a different way which will greatly increase the data I will use (basically I am going to use skype and other VOIP for the majority of my voice call and I will not use my mobile number very much at all).

As a result of the above I need to look for a deal that is much more focussed on data than on minutes and SMS (I send/receive very very few txts).

Ideally I owuld like a truly unlimted data deal giving me complete freedom but I am not aware of any being available. I am fed up with the definitions of unlimited being used by mobile provders e.g 500MB (I would not regard 500MB as unlimited if it was a daily allowance) but I am happy to pay a reasonable amount for a good fast data plan.

As always with anything to do with mobile phones it seems impossible to find good data about what is available to enable comparrisons, so I would be grateful for any recommendations.

If your around Norfolk, you are going to have problems getting enough 3g coverage / bandwidth for skype calls.

Tariff will be the least of your problems....

Yes I know it can be bad but I am on the edge of Norwich (near showground) and voda has full strength 3g, Orange and 3 are bad and I dont know wbout the others. However I travel a lot so Norfolk coverage is not my sole requirement.

There is no such thing as a truely unlimited internet plan that I know of. Anyone who thinks there is one is deluded. They all have a fair use limits and generally don't allow VOIP usage on the data plans. If you plan on using Skype etc...have a look at 3 (Three) who provide free Skype calls as standard on their tariffs, but again there is a fair use limit on that too. It can work out quite cheap for you as you can use Skype on 3 PAYG with no additional charge the last time I looked. I've also read that 3's Skype service doesn't work over a data connection, but via their internal phone network. You'll have to read up on the technology to get more info.

Yes I know that there isnt unlimited hense the sarcastic title ;-)

I have used the 3 Skype service and it wasnt very good and has many problems but the main killer for me was no Skype in, in addition 3 reception in the areas I spend a lot of time is very poor.

What I am really looking for is the best data plan without restrictions, I am happy to pay a reasonable amount for data but I dont like the common position where if you go above a certain amount you are hit by a very high cost per MB.

You get unlimited data (no fair usage policy but excludes pc use or tethering), unlimited texts and 100 xnet/landline mins for £10 a month (or 300 for £15 a month)

It's prepay but has contract like perks such as call diversion, call waiting, 0800 numbers are free etc

According to the website it is unlimited, but only until 25th of May, and then it becomes chargeable. After which time its 50p for the first 30MB and then 20p per MB exceeded. Doesn't sound too good to me. What the OP is after is a mobile broadband package that has no restrictions on VOIP use, unfortunately there aren't may decent packages about. The days of 3 offering 15GB for £15 are over. I was lucky to be on their 5GB for £7.50 for 18mths but never used it, so was cancelled. With the increase of smartphones in the market, all mobile co's are starting to reduce their allowances including 3, who used to be pioneers in introducing cheap mobile internet. All their contracts now have free internet with reduced limits from 1GB to 500MB. We seem to be going backwards....:(

See if you can switch over to a Vodafone business plan. They do a data add on which is £15.00 for 5GB FUP.

The mobile dongles for a PC have higher caps and higher speeds.
