Best unlimited broadband

Hi All, Been working away for a while but due back in UK soon, so I need to get some broadband set up in my property.

Heavy user so needs to be unlimited with low cost calls to customer service / help for when you get the envitable problems.

Do not have Sky installed and do not have a mobile phone contract.

Anyone know the best buys out there for me.

Have a working BT line in the property but don't want to change from that.

Any idea on how long broadband takes to get installed from point of order?

I'll probably get shouted down, but we've had BT unlimited Broadband for years and never had any problems. I'm in a house with 2 desktops, 3 laptops and various game consoles which are played online. There are 6 of us here and there's not many times when the someone's not online! Years ago we were with Tiscali and AOL. Never got on with either.

If you can get BT then you can get all the other resellers of the BTw products - that amounts to about 99% of all UK ISPs. I think the failure to understand that must account for BT being the biggest UK ISP - it certainly isn't their pricing, products, or customer service.

Thank you, tried the link and yes I can get LLU.

Any idea how long O2 would take to install?

Can you keep the BT line with O2?

you would have to phone O2 to find out on install times but i would say a 'reasonable' amount of time is about 10 working days

yes you can keep your BT line when going with O2 as they only unbundle your broadband

and if you are thinking of going with O2 it is worth while getting a cheap pay as you go phone/simcard from them to get the discounted price

Yes O2 require a BT line or they can also take over the billing now although I'd be inclined to stick with BT for that as the saving isn't huge and you remain flexible.

The install of any ADSL from scratch is likely to take 7-10days as there is some manual work needs doing at the exchange.

There were some very generous cashback deals (varied between £50 and £75 iirc) through Quidco and TopCashBack but these vanished recently. It may be they will return or possible only offered with a BB+phone package. This was on top of free months and free mobile credit deals which I think are still running. There is a £5pm discount for O2 mobile customers (contract or £10 payg topup every 3 months).

The product that should be avoided is O2 Access ~ £17 pm as that is standard resold BTw IPstream and was highly contended - a problem O2 are tackling by draconian caps on their supposedly unlimited product.
