Unlocking an iPhone on Orange?

Hi All,
I'm looking to buy an iPhone from eBay and have come across a fair few which are Orange. Could anyone tell me if its possible to get an unlock code from Orange if you're not with them? I do have a PAYG sim with Orange but pretty sure that'll make no difference, as the sim I want to use is my 02 Contract one.
I don't like the idea of the jailbroken one as that would probably invalidate the warranty, and I'm not sure where I'd stand if I need to send it to my insurance company to fix it if breaks. I've read threads on here but seem to be finding contrasting advice!

orange will more than likely want the original purchaser to pay the minimum term of the contract off.
you could try callin them and asking what the will do.0 -
I think that Orange will only unlock after 3 months too, although if you owners paid off the contract that might not be a problem, but it could be if they're selling a new upgrade !0
