Looks as if everything I was going to say has already been said. I find supermarket offers are often better than the prices that places like threshers or majestic have to offer. Tesco are good, especially if you collect clubcard points. If you buy from the website, you can get codes either for money off or extra points. We got 30 bottles of JP Chenet for about just under £95 on their 6 for £19 offer (£3.16 a bottle). If I hadn't bought at tesco, I'd probably have bought at ALDI or Lidl. They have surprisingly good wines in there that are really cheap.

I haven't got my sparkling wine yet (waiting for a good deal), but plan to get Cava instead of champers.

aldi's version of pimms is fab - its called austins.

i buy a lot of my wine from netto's or home bargains - get some good bargains in there. i also stock up like others have said when sainsburies have offers on.

home bargains also sell j2os cheap if you need non alcoholic

totally agree re the aldi version of pimms - you can't really tell the difference if you are putting the fruit/mint/cucumber shenanigans in it

You guys are all brilliant. Really appreciate all the tips and OH and I will be following every single one up. I have always been one for using the supermarket deals as they come along so it is good to get verification that it can be as good, if not better than the majestic et al.

Please do keep the tips coming and I will of course be updating.

p.s off to change my sig :)

It might be worth having a look on mysupermarket you can check the prices & special offers on booze for the main supermarket's and compare them against each other. Good luck on your wedding day's. (I'll be fine with some cheapy Asti Spumante lol)

i wouldn't buy proper fizz, just cheap sparkling stuff like cava - most people won't know the differance anyway and thats what most hotels dish up anyhow

We ended up getting all our booze for wedding mainly from Tescos Wine - keep an eye out for special offers. They did a great deal on Andre Carpentier champagne when we got it and it compared very favourably with other brands when we tasted it. Spirits we shopped around for and bought as and when we saw good deals. We worked out it really wasn't worth travelling to France.

    Good luck!

Gondola seem to be doing some good offers. Spend £100 get £40 off for first time buyers. Means you can get 18 bottles of decent wine for £66.00 including postage, works out around £3.70 a bottle.

I was in Marks and Spencers yesterday and i heard the man on the till telling a couple buying win to come back on Monday as when you buy 6 bottles of wine (maybe champagne included dunno) its 25% off!!!!!!!.

I also recommend Austin's from Aldi i have some in the cupboard. I was chatting to the chap in the till there about it he said it won some award last year and it actually beat the original :)
