T-mobile charges to unblock phone

I have decided to change from t-mobile to vodaphone, but want to use my existing phone, I asked for a PAC number which was given freely, they new that I wanted to use my existing phone. that was 2 days ago. I had to call them again, and have been told that the phone has to be unblocked that they will charge me £15 and it will take 28 days to ge the restriction number to me! Does anyone know why it shoudl cost this and take that long, I am bemused!!!!

it actually takes 2 mins to unlock a phone. However most companies, market stalls and other places will take them away for a period of time before returning them too you.

My gran got my phone unlocked from a guy called the Phone Doctor (in nottingham) he explained this to us, that most market venders say 24 hours because they take all their phones up to him and he does them all and sends them back.

I dare say thats what the bigger companies do to, they put you in a line and then send it back

Be aware the code from T mobile does not always work but to be fair they refunded the charge without probs

Go to a market stall/small shop that do it on the spot

It does cost 15 pounds for the subsidy code can take 28 days to be delivered by post.

I have unlocked my Nokia E72 although I only started the contract a month ago. Worked first time. Mine did not arrive by post they were able to provide on the phone.

The amount I paid does not seem unreasonable given cost of unlocking newer Nokia elsewhere plus less effort.
