A couple of quick questions about my credit report.

in Credit cards
I've recently obtained my credit report from both Experian and Equifax and I have a couple of queries relating to a Lloyds TSB credit card that I hope some of you might be able to help me with.
While at university in 2007 I ran in to some difficulties and was unable to meet my repayments, and in June of that year received what I have believed was a default notice. The letter seemed official enough, with the "Served under section 87(1) of the Consumer Credit Act 1974" malarkey. The account was eventually paid off in full in March of this year, and without it being sent to a DCA at any point. However, having checked my reports today, both Equifqax and Experian are showing my file having no defaults, with the Equifax report showing as a red 3 for June (rather than the D signifying a default) with a 2 for July and the Experian report simply saying that I have 1 3+ in the last 36 months.
Having read the default notice again it does make a mention that if I paid the arrears by 11 July 2007 I would be able to correct it, but I doubt that would have happend given my situation and attitude at the time. However I did have a LTSB c/a, so it may have been paid via right of set-off.
So my question is; am I right in thinking that the DN was never applied and that I should be okay to apply for credit in the next few months, rather than the year 2016 which is what I had resigned myself to doing?
Also the two credit reports both show that my current available credit on that card is still £1000.00, despite being told by LTSB that the card in question had been closed. Even though I haven't used the card since 2007 and paid it off in March, does it still take a couple of months for LTSB to update the CRAs, or do I need to phone them again to make sure they close the account down?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
