Am in agreement with making your own board for pegging odd socks or whatever. Wouldn't matter in my house - they swear the washing machine eats them. Okay - but why am I the only one who always has pairs of socks come out of the wash?
(Not really confused, just simple case of putting socks in washing basket as you take them off - and I pair them together before bunging in - just attach them together, just fold ankle bits together, sort of like you do when putting in a drawer - saves a lot of hassle).
I keep their odd socks for a bit in a basket. If they don't get claimed, I use them for cleaning. Too bad if they find a match another month or two later! Just means I have another duster!
DD has got the hang of this one now - and wears odd socks all the time - it's a fashion statement apparently?
Anyone else got a family who will wear socks with holes in them?0 -

)
On a couple of occaisions I have lost socks knowing I put them in the washer together wondering where on earth they had got to. Then when putting clean bedding on the bed, abracadabra, there they were inside duvet cover in the corners were they had got stuck whilst being washed. Mystery solved!0 -
Boo Hoo
I can't watch Anthea, I only have 4 channels, can't even get channel 5 on the existing arial.
Not sure what going to happen when they turn off analog TV, still it will give me loads more time to read & sew, lol.

I've just annoyed OH - I've put an alarm on for "anytime" for Perfect Housewife on Digiguide. It'll drive him nuts :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Well I found myself watching this, despite not being the biggest fan of Ms Turner, but actually inspried me! I watched 5 minutes of it, then decided I should do the washing up! This didn't take long, and there wasn't anything else on, so I watched the rest of it, whilst doing my ironing! So I've finally finished my pile of ironing that's been hanging around on the sofa for weeks! I then whizzed round and had a quick tidy up and felt much better!
Also loved the t-shirt folding trick and will give it a go at some point!
I did in fact end up enjoying the programme, and being as this slot never has anything on for me to watch, I think I maybe a convert!!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109

janeawej wrote:I liked the odd sock peg board thingy too, i think i will make my own after all its just a few clothes pegs stuck on a bit of wood! it cant be too hard to make, I'm going to paint the wood with a bit of bright leftover paint first, then attach either bright plastic or wooden pegs on with some no more nails glue that i have in the cupboard and ................hey presto a sock peg thingy! (I hope!)
I wonder if any one sells those wooden socks that cover the pegs as card making thingies, then you (or I, as I like your idea & intend to copy you) could stick them on to make it look more like the ones for sale at too high-a price for me.

I've found another link with written instructions for the t shirt folding.

Anybody know how to fold a fitted sheet?
I just do what those girls did and roughly fold before bunging in the airing cupboard but they always get so creased and don't feel nice to sleep on?0 -
Watched Anthea last night. Was inspired by the t-shirt folding. Just had to get a t-shirt in the ads to practice on.
As soon as it had finished I had to re-organise the baskets on the top shelf in my telly cupboard. I could see bits spilling out of them all through the programme & couldn’t take it any more. I’m going to have to make labels for them so OH knows where things are meant to go.Your home is at risk if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured on it.0 -
I've had a thought about those sock holders - DD has "Hama" (those little bead sets that you iron. They have them in Argos) and I was thinking I might make one each for my SIL's and get DD to make socks out of her Hama setRoz_V wrote:Anybody know how to fold a fitted sheet?
- Hold up the sheet, inside-out, and slip your hands inside the top 2 corners. The wrong side of the fabric should be facing you and the right side should be touching your hands.
- Carefully lay the sheet down on a large flat surface so it spread out smoothly. Fold the sheet right side together, slipping the top corners gently inside the two bottom corners. Arrange the corners neatly.
- Fold the sheet edges to the inside. The flaps of fabric that hug the mattress should be neatly folded down in line with the corners, making a large rectangle with all loose edges tucked in smoothly.
- Fold the sheet in half, stacking all four conrers on top of one another and encasing the folded sheet sides. The curved edges should be tucked down to create a (more or less) smooth rectangle.
- 5 fold the sheet in half again to create a long, narrow strip. The tighter and smoother the folds, the less likely it is that the sheet will become wrinkled - or balloon to an enormous size in the linen cupboard.
- Fold the strip in half, then (depending on the sheet size ) in half or in thrids to make a compact - and wrinkle free - rectangle.
Which I would HIGHLY recommend
:D
