  • I use a plastic £1 round hanger with pegs on that is meant for drying 'smalls' but works in the same way as the peg board but much cheaper.

I've always got odd socks so pin them on til I find a match ( dh says that he puts them in the basket together so why don't they get washed together???!!! anyone know the answer to that one - I don't :D )

On a different, but related, topic, I've been trying to fold my t-shirts like Anthea did...

I kind of get the theory (I can see how she did it, and am copying faithfully!:p), but my "end product" looks nowhere near as neat and tidy as Anthea's did  - I guess practise makes perfect, eh?!:rotfl:

I liked the odd sock peg board thingy too, i think i will make my own after all its just a few clothes pegs stuck on a bit of wood! it cant be too hard to make, I'm going to paint the wood with a bit of bright leftover paint first, then attach either bright plastic or wooden pegs on with some no more nails glue that i have in the cupboard and ................hey presto a sock peg thingy! (I hope!)

Sounds good. Someone earlier had the idea of using plastic milk carton lids with an X cut in them to pair socks up in the wash.

Personally, I get round it by making sure I buy socks as a job lot - a dozen pairs of identical ones at a time.
  • Just bought DS socks for returning to school - eight identical pairs. I've been buying him the same sport sock for about two years - he must have 15 identical pairs. Same goes for DD's sport socks and my own. No mismatching, no arguments about ownership and goodbye to odd ones lying around. They go straight to the owner's drawer to be teamed up eventually. It's not perfect yet, there are still different pairs owned by everyone (mostly christmas presents), but it has made life a lot easier.

I gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!
  • I must be really sad, I've just stayed up and watched the repeat of Anthea Turner Perfect Housewife.
Has anyone tried the vinegar / bicarb mix to clean grout?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D

Much more sensible than spending £10-20 on a sock board! I'm afraid my odd socks still live in a carrier bag tucked behind the couch. When it gets full or we run short of pairs of clean socks, we empty them onto the couch and sort through them. I had a sock-matching competition with my DS, and we agreed that purple pairs earn a 5-point bonus, but he got very competitive after I was daft enough to say that the prize would be an extra scoop of ice-cream, and he kept pinching "my" pairs!

I so love this programme but do think she fails to take into consideration the fact that most of the people have "little people" at home. I know before I had kids I would hoover every other day, be upto date with washing and ironing, infact to clean the house from top to bottom would only take me a couple of hours on a saturday morning.

Would LOVE to see her stick to her cleaning routine with a couple of toddlers trailing behind her, demanding drinks and food every two mins. And lets not forget the painting and playdough oh and when they help with the baking.

Having said that this week I have sorted everyroom upstairs so they are spotless (gone through cupboards etc) and I plan to continue but now my littles are 2 and 3 1/2 life is much easier as they can manage to play together for a while so I get time to sort out. As for the hoover think I get through one a year now as it must be on about 5 times a day!

I love that T-shirt folding video, will try and put it into practise. Just searched for ironing a fitted sheet and no-one on the internet can provide any help!
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
