Chased by Dell/ DRS for unwanted Laptop

Hi all,

My girlfriend purchased a laptop from Dell in October 2009 with great difficulty. They incorrectly took payments over the phone and charged her for two laptops. One charge was subsequently blocked by her bank and Dell accepted this was the end of the matter and were to only send one laptop.

A month later (after delays) the laptop arrived. My girlfriend was on holiday so I drove to the mail depot to collect the order. This contained 2 laptops but I was unaware so took the parcel and drove home.

On my girlfriends return she found there were 2 laptops and tried to call Dell to explain. This ran up a phone bill of over £20 all to no avail. No one is ever accountable for anything. We emailed Dell stating that we refused to chase them by calling their extortionate numbers anymore and wanted to agree collection of the laptop. Dell agreed and apologised.

We have tried to maintain a conversation trail by email but this is not possible where they phone us or send new emails, not ever replying to what we send.

Over 5 months has now passed by with Dell agreeing to come and collect the laptop approxiamtely once a month. They agree each time that they will come and collect it but always say they need to call back to arrange a time and never do.

We had to call out the Dell repair person as we had problems with the paid for laptop and he advised that Dell are notoriously bad at collecting laptops and refused to take it with him as Dell would deny all knowledge of this and charge us.

We have now been advised by a company (DRS) that Dell have passed the debt onto them and we do not know what to do. Dell dont seem to have a complaints address and have never had anyone accountable for anything to speak to. We do not want two laptops and never did.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thankyou in advance
