    And in case alcohol is not appropriate (happened in my family before) - a thoughful voucher could be nice (cinema, DYI shop, ikea, amazon, ticketmaster...)

    or if you have nice local food speciality

    For helping move we provided each friend a crate of beers and takeaway pizza in the evening. I agree with above that money could be taken as insulting.

    i once helped a girl friend and her new bloke move into a three storey house - utterly utterly knaaackering.... when we went to the pub that night he did not even offer to buy my meal..... tight-wad....

    Definitely not cash, I would hate it if a friend offered me money after I helped them out. Take them out for drinks/meal.

    I am with everyone else on that one i have helped friends move in the past (by helping pack and cleaning new house and old house) and never ever expected anything back, although its a nice treat to get a take away and a stiff drink after all that work!

    Out for some booze and a feed I think. Removals are hideously expensive so even if you spent £50 a head you'd be well ahead.
