Hi,
How much does everyone think is a nice amount to give to a friend for helping them move. ie, lifting heavy items such as sofas, fridge, bet etc in to a van.
Thanks, Chris

Maybe nothing, some may feel insulted. I guess it depends on how much time and what you do for him in return?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

How about a gift? A case of beer?0

I gave one guy a playstation steering wheel I no longer wanted and a bottle of vodka (years ago),
The second time a case of wine.
However I wouldn't expect anything if I was helping somebody, if they gave me something I would see it as a bonus.0 -
I'd get them round and treat them to a takeaway and a few drinks, probably a bottle of something. If I'd helped a friend move I wouldn't really want money TBH.0

I would be a bit offended if one of my mates gave me cash for helping them move. A case of beer or some wine on the other hand would be gratefully received.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't like friends giving me cash for helping out. Some sort of present is different though. Don't ask me why, it's one of those irrational things.0 -
I would say a jolly good slap-up meal afterwards - pizza and beers?
Depends if they're/ you're skint or not0 -
I would personally nip into a supermarket/offy and get a selection of nice beers (whether he's into lager or bitter there are usually some nice premium ones that you wouldn't buy for yourself) - shows a bit of thought, isn't embarrassingly "gifty" and if he feels so inclined you can share them.Adventure before Dementia!0

Gift is probably better. You should probably spend an equivalent to minimum wage, so a couple of hours would mean a higher-end bottle of wine.0

Like pretty much everyone else has said. Beer or wine is the best way to go. I dotn want my mates 'paying' me to help them move but a few beers or a bottle of wine is a nice 'thank you' gift.YNWA
