southpaw wrote:do not sign up with ntl , they are the worst company i have ever had to deal with. they are totally incompetant and i would advise any potential new customers to look elsewere for a reputable isp. at present they owe me £402 and have done so since jan06. despite 34 phone calls to there customer service i am still waiting .i have now contacted otello (isp ombudsman) and if you research ntl on internet you will find other horror stories there too.
please look elsewere for a decent isp
Yet I have had a nightmare with BT, I know other people who have had a nightmares with other providers so that would leave us all with the choice of no-one......0 -
In order to activate your account, they send round a technician to set up your cable.
When you place your order (about 2-3 weeks before you want the service)you would fix this appt for the day you want service to start, and pay from that date.0 -
Mine was auto dd; don't know that it has to be. Ask CS?0

I have about 6 mates at work who have NTL and everyone of them has problems, billing problems, connection problems you name it and the customer service is so bad it is ridiculous. I used to use them a few years ago and will never go within a country mile of them now, do yourself a favour listen to the horror stories and take heed.0

Must admit I have had few problems with NTL, and with a little patience with CS its always been sorted to my benefit.
I do use ntlhell and there is a lot of help from there.

I have had no reason to speak to NTL's CS for a year or so until recently, and I was very surprised a. you now have to pay for the call.and b. its support is now an Asian call center!
I have had NTL for about 10 years with phone,BB and TV package and really had no problem.
So you pays yer money and takes yer choice.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
End of the day I have no choice. NTL IS the best option for studnets. And all the students I know who have used it have had NO problems...
Put them 2 together and the statistics say I should go with it![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

The one that's not owned by NTL is NTLHell.co.uk or CLICKY !
They provide a lot of information relating to NTL whether you're having problems or praising the service. There's a lot of NTL staff who are registered on the site and will often you very good advice and help when you ask for it.~Non Ex Transverso Sed Deorsum~0 -
i'm with NTL and have the phone and broadband and have had no problems with them. the only thing i did have a problem with was the cable television(hence why i haven't got it anymore)...
the cable television switch off and be out of service practically everyday and be off for hours. when i received the bill, i refused to pay it all because of this, and they did credit me for the first month, but after that they refused and i had to pay for a service i wasn't getting.
so... phone & broadband are ok, but STAY AWAY FROM THE CABLE TELEVISION!!!0
