How to sign up to NTL (newbie question)

Options
Basically I've been doing some studying :p

I've finally come to a conclusion of exactly which NTL package I want to go for.

I live in Milton Keynes but will be moving into a student house september 1st.

Question is, can i ring or use the net to buy now, but it starts on the 1st wen i move in?

Other problem is not sure if current tennants that move out then will still have an ongoing contract at the same property for a few weeks overlap.. does that cause any implication?

Finally, wen I called NTL they kept relaying me due to having a milton keynes phone number, so when they put me through to the right office it would relay me to the milton keynes one :S so any advice on that would be great!

Thank you :)

    Hi

Not sure what you're asking, but when you do book it- do it through Quidco and get £27.50 back CASH! might pay for your first month

    cheers

  • do not sign up with ntl , they are the worst company i have ever had to deal with. they are totally incompetant and i would advise any potential new customers to look elsewere for a reputable isp. at present they owe me £402 and have done so since jan06. despite 34 phone calls to there customer service i am still waiting .i have now contacted otello (isp ombudsman) and if you research ntl on internet you will find other horror stories there too.
please look elsewere for a decent isp

there is a site on the net,nthellworld.com(can a mod remove this if its not allowed please)full of bad tales about ntl but ive been with them for several years now with no problems at all
  • They're the best for students due to their 3 in 1 package of phone, internet and tv. seperately this would add up to more than the price ntl give it.

i KNOW there are horror stories.. but you get that with every company.. its a risk we have to take. Every student (most students rather) go with NTL. As long as we don't use the phone (treating it as a free addition) and pay on time, we won't have any problems i don't imagine!

Does anyone know however if a new contract can be started while an old one is going on, and how long it takes from the day you buy the contract to the day the box is delievered/connected and the first day your charged?

    Thanks

I order my NTL package through Quidco while I was living in Poland but set it up for to start at my new house (in Northern Ireland) the day that I moved in. I gave them my Sipgate number to contact me (they phoned to make sure the date and time suited) and everything worked fine. Got £27.50 back from Quidco and my first month was £7.99 for buying through the web.

The previous people in my house had NTL but am not sure if there was an overlap.
  • Right well I know we get discount on first month due to using the web (if i use the web)...

How do you arrange it using the internet to start the contract on september 1st? The way I could see it, it starts from the day you submit the order basically?

    Thank you :)

When I placed an order through the web to upgrade to digital they had a box where I could choose an installation date and start paying the new price until it had been installed. So I would assume the contract starts on the install date.
