Mobile, delay in getting messages

My phone messaging has always been a bit tempermental. I'm on Vodafone. So, for example, tonight my phone beeps at 8.20 pm, I look and it says message received. So I ring 121 to pick up the message and it's timed at rec'd today at 6.21 pm. Is this time-lag a common problem with others ? If it's not right, is it likely to be my phone (about 2 years old) or the network?

    Hi Somerset,

    Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

    Your Voicemail messages should be pretty instant and certainly not 2 hours delayed.

    If you’re in an area with little or no coverage then this can prevent Voicemail, texts and calls from being delivered. However this shouldn’t happen on a regular basis when you have strong coverage.
