Car Insurance under £100

I have been reading previous posts and noticed that some people have been able to get car insurance for under £100. I would be intrested to hear what sort of cars that is for, what your jobs are etc.
I dont intend to do any fiddling before anyone thinks that, just intrested.
Secondly I have been looking for car insurance for the last 10 hours following MSE guidelines. The best I have found so far is about £290 to £305, depending on the companies.
The options are
Direct Line
Tescos
Auto Direct
Anyone got any experince of claiming of any of them?
Thanks for your assistance

Directline/Tesco are the same company (Just a rebranded policy that's slightly stripped down for Tesco) and they are ok, heard some nightmare stories and heard some very good ones!
Auto Direct... never heard of them!0 -
Hi Cute mouse may be worth trying https://www.cheapcarinsuranceforwomen.org.uk not sure if it will help but helped my wife get good deal.0

to get cheap car insurance, it's best to:
live in very low risk areas (out in the country for example)
have many years of driving history
be older (but not over retirement age)
not be driving many miles a year
expensive or high insurance group car will put your premium up, but having the cheapest lowest group old banger won't reduce it much if you see what I mean!
most mainstream jobs don't make much difference unless you're doing business travelling or in a special job category (like an actress for example)
I was trying some quotes out on a website and it made no difference for me if I was an admin assistant or a teacher or listed myself as unemployed.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Have you tried putting an older (more experienced) driver on the policy as an additional driver?
I put my Dad on my policy, which means he can legally move my car off the drive and park it somewhere else if need be, and it reduces my premium.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Ten hours? Jesus wept. Put a price on that. Stop wasting your time and pay what you're happy and what you can afford to pay for the best you can afford. Do you ever wonder what cheap insurance is likely to be like?
Read the countless threads from people who moan about the insurance they have when they come to use it. They are the people who settle for the cheapest insurance they can find.0 -
Like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. How safe would you feel driving around on an insurance policy costing less than £100? Higher insurance quotes aren't high just to rip you off, they are usually higher because they are giving you a much better level of cover.0

Well I paid £205 to the Pru for fully comp, protected ncd, legal cover and green flag cover. They also gave me £130 cashback through Quidco so £75 for a years cover with a company I felt pretty safe with.
Not sure that higher quotes aren't there to "rip you off" as you put it. Many times I have shopped around for various insurance products and got a better price, like for like, than my renewal. When I phone to cancel the original company nearly always say "Oh why didn't you call us we could have beaten that!" Well if you had sent me your best price you would still have had my business is my usual reply.0 -
Just got a policy with Aviva, £194 with £75 cashback from TopCashback website so net cost is £119 for the year fully comp. Not quite sub-£100 but by far the best I found. That's for a Seat Ibiza TDI Sport, my wife's was a similar price with Aviva for an Octavia TDI, although my policy also includes business mileage (not very much though)."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0

Direct Line/Tesco is RBS.
Auto Direct is Fortis.
RBS are !!!!!! and are now owned by the British Government.
Fortis were !!!!!! and are now owned by the Dutch & Belgian Governments.
The Dutch make better lager and drugs and the Belgians make better lager and chocolate.
The British make better cider and hooligans.
