An 05 Fiesta? 60% NCD? Do you imagine that these things are relevant?

Why do you think they're called SAGA?

    Just listen to yourself.

"Not quite under £100 but by far the best I've found". It's actually laughable. Since when has cheapness been a measure of quality? Why do people want to brag about how little they pay for insurance? I understand this is a moneysaving site but I wish it would advocate turning off computers to save on electricity.

You might think I'm a troll, but I'm a troll who knows what I'm talking about when it comes to insurance. You clearly do not.

Well, I've just read this, and I must admit I half agree with you.
    You are a troll.

    Wow, you're quite rude really,

Did it ever occur to you that people dont care how good their insurance is? I have car insurance because legally I have to, I dont intend on using it, been driving 8 years and never been close to having an accident so Im not going to pay more than I have to, I just see it like another tax
    Rude? LolZ.

Here's some more. Every fragment of what you just wrote makes me think you're a bit of a twerp.

"Did it ever occur to you that people dont care how good their insurance is?"

People? Is that ALL people? Are you the spokesperson for people? Because, you know, I missed that meeting. If you're saying SOME people, then say it. Don't tar everyone with the same moronic brush. I'm sure some people don't care about how good their insurance is. Maybe they're people like you?

"I have car insurance because legally I have to."

Well yes, clearly. I suppose there are a minority who don't by insurance because they maybe can't afford it, or they simply see themselves as beyond the law. But, yes, I too buy car insurance because I legally have to. That's kind of the point. It's the sort of phrase I hear every day, and it means absolutely nothing unless it's backed up with something else. But the only something else you can back it up with is something like, "I wouldn't buy it if I didn't have to." Which comes across as doubly dumb because:

    1. It's so hypothetical and...
    2. If car insurance was voluntary realistically you would still have to buy it for fear of bankrupting yourself if you ever were unfortunate enough to drive your vehicle into, say, a Bentley or a bus queue of people.

"I dont intend on using it"

Hahahahaha...because do you think most people want to use insurance? Do you think some people expect to have to use insurance? Using insurance is a hassle.

"been driving 8 years and never been close to having an accident"

This is commendable, although your optimism is slightly misplaced. Insurance isn't just about accidents. It's about vandalism and theft. It's about someone driving into and driving away. It's about a windy day and a bin being blown onto the roof of your car, or a tree crushing it. It's about everyone else's driving. It's about always being a split second away from having to make a claim.

"Im not going to pay more than I have to"

So let me guess. Third Party Only? Bare bones cover? Stripped away to nothing? Or are you fully comprehensive? Low excess? Protect your no claims? Legal protection? Courtesy car? The works? And how can you ever know whether or not you're paying more than you have to? You can't know. All you know is what you pay, and for some people it will never be cheap enough.

"I just see it like another tax"

Well, certainly tax is part of it. But ignoring IPT, how is it like a tax?

You don't have to answer that.

So why don't you just ring them in the first place instead of wasting time getting an alternative quote, time you'll never get back, only to subsequently call your existing insurers to tell them to cancel rather than just call them to renew?

That doesn't make much sense to me, sorry.

The process, What would be the point of phoning them first? I wouldn't, at that point, know if their price was cheap, reasonable or overpriced. Armed with an alternative I could phone them to cancel, as most auto-renew these days, and see whether they want to price match.

Maybe I'm old fashioned but if they can all off a sudden reduce my premium by £100 or so, then I feel they should have offered that lower price in the first place, rather than take my custom for granted.

As comparison sites are fairly quick to provide a price these days it is surely sensible to spend a few minutes knowing what alternatives there are rather than just blindly renewing a policy.

Just call them and tell them you've had a cheaper quote. Without having a cheaper quote. Lie.

Fair point I have bluffed them in the past for £10 or £20 but in these days of quick comparison sites, introductory cheap rates and cashback offers it really is better to be armed with achievable targets imo.
