take your point dmg and you were really helpful to me a couple of years ago when I did an SOS appeal from an internet cafe in spain when i was having no luck with the ryanair website but sometimes people come on here to let off a bit of steam and irrespective of whether they choose to use the dreaded word rip-off in their rant it wouldn't hurt just to sympathise a bit even if this was tempered with a bit of "actually you should have realised before you booked ..."

I think the wording of the initial post goes a long way to how other people respond - regardless of the situation.

As mwillets has said, words like 'rip-off', 'scam', 'conned' - when that isn't really the reality - seems to bring out the 'you should have read the T&Cs' replies. Which is true.

Phrases such as 'Is this legal?', 'I'm disgusted', 'shocked' 'I want compensation' etc etc accompanied by lots of '!!!!!!!' (that's exclamation marks, not me being censored, BTW) also does the trick.

Aside from the rip off that isn't a rip off did the OP not try to amend the BA flight before booking with another carrier ? The strike has only been announced, contingency plans are still being drawn up with the use of other carriers aircraft.

Seems to me that the OP has overeacted by jumping ship to easyjet far too quickly just as they have with their choice of wording!

Why don't you cancel your BA flight? Have you looked at the T+C for that atall?

They might be more flexible and have better customer service!

How about taking a moment to review the original post in connection with the T & C.

The OP said he paid for baggage fees. The T & C make no mention of baggage fees. Some wiggle room perhaps?

    Well you have my sympathy.
Why should you not expect services that you are not going to use to be refunded, with a small admin charge of course, that in this case have needed no financial outlay by the airline apart from maybe a bit of IT.
It may not be exactly a rip off but it is clear unfair profitering.
