Doesn't seem too bad to me. I usually have to fork out the thick end of half a grand. Running a car is expensive.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Hard to tell without knowing what was done…….

Sounds steep if it was just an oil & inspection service.

Sounds like a bargain if it included cam belt, & brake fluid/transmission oil/coolant change.

You have got off lightly. I have just had my Renault Modus have a 36,000 mile service at £760 by a main dealer.

It depends if they are trying to eke out every last penny of profit.

A local indy near me charges £10 for a can of engine flush first, then four and a half litres of Valvolene engine oil - charged by the litre of course to maximise profit = £32, then air, fuel and oil filter at c.£10 each.

A bulb here and there. antifreeze etc etc and you reach nigh on £100 in parts, with a nice mark up.

Two hours labour charged at £44 and they've cleared probably £130 in total in not more than an hour.

Its the cumulative price of all the parts, labour and not forgetting VAT at 17.5%. All the bits quickly add up.
  • It all depends on the service.

    a basic service rip off.
a full service including a timing belt change or similar then its about right.

Or just the timing belt change.
