i would have a good look around on the net first, plenty of people make and sell nappy cakes.

I wouldnt personally buy one but my missus would - she buys anything that would annoy me :)

    I personally wouldn't buy a nappy cake.
Instead of paying somebody to put little gifts together to look pretty and cute, I'd rather spend the same amount of money and get more things - IYSWIM.

But that's just me and maybe there is a market for it.
    Good luck ayway.

I like the idea of them but same as Pollycat I would be more tempted to use the money I would pay for a nappy cake (or bouquet) to buy a variety of things and make my own new baby basket instead.

There is definitely a market for these though and if you can make them at a price which is competitive with other people who do the same thing then people will buy them. Good luck with your new busines venture :)

No I've never bought one and nor would I I'm afraid. I've not seen one that I thought looked really good, and I'd rather buy good quality things and wrap them myself rather than giving as a gift the cheap stuff that I've seen people put in them bulked out by disposable nappies.

I'm a washable nappy user, so I might consider one made of washable nappies that looked really good and contained nappies of a brand I like, but it would be very expensive, so I'd only buy it for someone very close. I guess that would mean I wasn't a returning customer.

I'm sorry I can't be more positive, good luck with your plans.

Sorry I wouldn't normally reply to a thread like this but sounds a bit ridiculous so I couldn't resist.

It seems to be thing someone would buy you. You smile politely and its never see the light of day again then be thrown away as part of clear out personally I wouldn't buy one and would rather buy someone a lot more of usefully things.

That said knowing how we like to waste stuff in this country there properly is market.

Good on you for looking into setting up your own business. Market research is the thing to do before you launch. You can't do too much.

Just wanted to point out your answers on here will be biased towards money saving people, so a lot of people will be the type to make their own to get a better deal. Have you posted the same question on the bounty forums and netmums and all the other parenting forums too?

In answer to your question, I would never buy one - I'm in the camp of "a bit tacky" but know other people do and will be willing to spend money on them. Good luck with your venture.

    Hi Princess85
I think nappy cakes are a fabulous idea, they are practical because they contain a lot of useful stuff for a new mum, and so much more interesting than a mothercare voucher or a few babygrows!

I would have thought that they are the sort of gift a group of colleagues would buy for a new mum, a few £'s donation from a few people would buy a really nice 'cake' - maybe a bit of marketing in that direction would start the orders flooding in!!

Personally as a gift from just me I probably would spend £15-20 ish - but the great thing about the nappy cakes are that you can make a variety of sizes at different prices for different budgets.

    Good Luck!

No and no. I don't like them and tend to think they are bad value.
