Plusnet: Extortionate excess usage charges

A warning to anyone considering Plusnet. If you go over your usage allowance, extra usage is charged in blocks of 5GB (or part thereof) at a cost of £5. There is NO carry over of unused extra allowance purchased to the following month.
If you are on Value (Market 3 exchange) paying £6.49 and go over the 10GB allowance by 500MB you will be charged £11.49. Suddenly it doesn't look quite so attractive!

Agreed, I would say Value is now only for low users anyone who may be likely to be getting near the 10GB limit every month would be better going on the Extra package with a 60GB limit which is £11.49 on a Market 3 exchange.0 -
Thats still no where near as much as the mobile broadband providers charge for going over your limit - That ranges up to £1 a meg so for your 500mb that's £500!0

since when is something that is documented and clear in the terms extortion.
if you're in a unbundled exchange, go with o2, as they're £12.50 per month unlimited (without an o2 phone!)0 -

Service good?
I had O2 Access, which was diabolical. I cancelled within the 30 day Happiness Guarantee and moved to Plusnet.
However, O2's customer service is excellent. Despite the fact I had cancelled my contract with them, they have been extremely helpful in my current dispute with TalkTalk () by providing advice and hard copies of documents etc.
As a bonus, calls to O2 customer services are free and you get to speak to genuine British people on the other end of the phone. :T0 -
I'm pretty sure when I signed up to Plusnet a few months ago it was only £1 per GB for going over the limit, so have they changed this recently? If so, it's pretty sneaky of them as I don't remember them telling me. I will definitely be looking to move away to someone like O2 as I have come close to the 10GB limit a couple of times and would not be happy with a £5 charge for going just over.0

They sent e-mails about this (in with details of other changes), it is still £1 a GB extra but now charged in 5GB blocks so going over will cost £5.
It is a good "value" stand alone product if you are a light user or confine heavy usage to the midnight to 8am unlimited slot.0 -

It changed in mid April when they brought the new packages out, they claim they sent an email out to all customers affected, there is a long thread about it here:-

Ok thanks, I thought it must have been a recent change. I'm not on a Market 3 exchange so I'm paying 11.99 for Plusnet with the 10GB limit. It looks like I could get O2 for example for just 50p a month more with unlimited access. I think it's time to move.0
