    you're all right i *really* don't get it. You can't predict whats going to happen in the future unfortunate things happen you just can't avoid and the only thing you can do is give as much notice and apologies.
    so say you go away for 1yr with a 6mnth clause, something goes wrong you can't return home for upto 6mths? what do you do in the mean time, rent somewhere else before you can return home? what happens if you divorce therefore have to sell, i can't for 6mnths? Same for job relocations?...
    as said choose your tenants hell yes, never mind the money aspect i would at least expect the tentant to be a decent human being and total understanding on the above issues should they arise. Any question against them blows my mind it really does.

    The contract is legally binding, how would you like if you mortgage company said " tough, we are taking your house back, not got enough money, sorry. Find somewhere else to live!"

    How could you expecy someone to have "be a decent human being and total understanding on the above issues should they arise" when you couldn't respect someones home that they have paid for.

    Seems you have it backwards there!

    Just to clarify - this person is NOT the original poster of this thread. I dont even think this person is a landlord, and is actually (I think) just trying to explain why he would never become a landlord. Which means all us tenants out there can breathe a great big sigh of relief as I think we're all in agreement here that KrazyFool would make a shocking landlord.

    As I understand it three things would happen if he were a landlord:
    1. He would turn up on the doorstep telling the tenants to leave, or worse still break in and change the locks
    2. They'd call the Police
    3. He'd be jailed
    No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Actually, I was hoping KrazyFool was thinking about being a LL ... just as I was thinking about becoming a professional tenant ... just for a while, to see how it worked out for me, y'know.

    Oh, I don't know. He won't protect the deposit, so you tripple up on that. No need to pay the rent as he wouldn't have a clue how to serve notice correctly, should be easy enough to get an injuction for harassment.... I could go on, but you get the drift.

    I know a few tenants who wouldn't call him a landlord, they'd call him Christmas!

    Called repossession isnt it, or have i got that wrong too :rolleyes: I have the potential of loosing everything or i could just move elsewhere.

    you are right im not a landlord was thinking about it but all i see on this site and many others "bad landlord this, bad tenant that" it really does put me off esp these comments.

    you have however got me completely wrong, i think most will say i am the nicest most caring person they have met. i do put others needs above my own and often i am aware that that can and have be taken advantage of. so infact i can think of a number of reasons why i would make a good landlord going by most comments here....

    even thinking about those things makes you just as bad a tenant, one i certainly wouldnt want, i think all landlords would agree

    I see that you took the angry pills to get rid of any sense of irony.

    Of course the comments made would infer the actions of a bad tenant, but they could all be mitigated by a good landlord acting like a landlord. Not too much for a tenant to ask, is it?

    Suffice to say Krazyfool, I wouldn't bother being a landlord if you can't sort out your own affairs without breaking the contract of someone else's personal affairs.

    I prob pay the same on rent as some pay on their mortgage. It gives me no less right to enjoy my home for as long as my tenancy agreement says I can.

    If you have personal problems, it gives you no right to inflict them on me and my personal circumstances.

    A good tenant might leave if they found somewhere suitable in a shorter time frame, but that's not up to you.
    9/70lbs to lose :)
