Just to quickly point out that not all last minute bidders could be online.

They could be using a sniping (automatic bidding) tool.

I think it's important to point out in case you didn't know, as I've had sellers get narky at me before because they saw I bid in the last few seconds but I wasn't near a computer at all to pay.

I wouldn't leave it days to pay though.

Surely Thats the Name of the game isn't it?? :\ Why Would a seller get Narky.
They'd do the same im sure?
    Almost..debt free.. :P:money:

I remember years ago ( 02/03 ? ) bidding by phone for something ( the phone screen size was the size of a postage stamp with black text on off white background - mitsibushi trium , I think ) and managed to bid £1000.08 for what should have been a £7 - £8 item

( course I won ! ) but somehow it got bid up to over £24 - it wasnt till I got home and looked at my win ( on my massive 15 inch screen ! ) that I saw what had happened

    - and extracated myself - with sincere apologys!
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)

I don't think many buyers would mind that if you contacted them and explained what was a genuine mistake, I believe what people here are saying is where someone bids a fair bid in comparison and then does not even have the decency to contact and give an explanation or appology if they then find they cannot have the item for some reason.

I did go through a couple of weeks in the new year where I had three non payers across all my accounts, I usually get none at all. I NPBd them all and then relisted. Two of the items sold of rmore than the original price (by quite a lot of money), and one went to another NPB (argggh I'll never get rid of it)

    .

:j My relisted item is now selling for higher than the original final price - and 2 days to go (just hope they pay)

Yeah it's about paying straight away, but oddly I have had some who really, really don't like snipers.

I guess they've figured it out that it is a moneysaving measure, or they're shill bidders.

I ignore their funny terms and condiditons though. :D
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I had one who took another 2 days after I opened the NPB to pay. I did ask if he still wanted it, he answered ofcourse, I'll pay right now... 2 days later he paid.

I don't mind waiting so long as they let me know. I've done it myself with things 'hi, if I win your item, I can't pay till payday, are you willing to wait?'. It's not hard.
